A Few Notes About This Unusual Hood
Hoods such as this one were an item used by dealers to show off the unusual transverse mounted engine. Imagine the wonder at look through the hood of one of these small cars to see the engine mounted crossways with the transmission right there underneath. And it all drove the front wheels instead of the rear!
The hood is made of fiberglass with metal hinge and latch hardware. The inset piece is Plexiglas and is screwed in from the top. This example still has the protective paper covering - though it has been "artistically enhanced." Additionally, this example is still unpainted. It will eventually be painted to match the accompanying car.
Although I have heard of an ex-dealer who still has one of these, I only know of perhaps one or two others still in existence.
NOTE: I sold this hood shortly after selling my 1100. It went to a good owner.
